Junior Associate – Legal & Compliance

We are seeking to recruit a motivated and detail-oriented lawyer to join its Legal & Compliance function. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Legal & Compliance, the successful candidate will provide day-to-day legal support to departments across the Company and assist with a range of legal, data protection and compliance matters. This is an opportunity for a warranted lawyer who is keen to broaden their experience and develop within an in-house environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Provide day-to-day legal support and advice to various departments across the Company.
• Draft, review and assist in negotiating contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and assist with legal opinions and correspondence.
• Support the Company’s compliance with GDPR and applicable data protection legislation.
• Assist with data protection requests, privacy policies and related matters.
• Support the Compliance function on regulatory matters, policies and procedures.
• Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments.
• Liaise with external legal advisers and other stakeholders when required.

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who has:

 

• A degree in Law and a valid Maltese warrant to practise as a lawyer.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Maltese.
• Strong attention to detail, discretion and professionalism.
• A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn.
• The ability to work well as part of a team.
• Previous experience in insurance, data protection or compliance will be considered an asset, but is not essential.
